Our Strategy

20 When I am with the Jews, I become one of them so that I can bring them to Christ. When I am with those who follow the Jewish laws, I do the same, even though I am not subject to the law, so that I can bring them to Christ. 21 When I am with the Gentiles who do not have the Jewish law, I fit in with them as much as I can. In this way, I gain their confidence and bring them to Christ. But I do not discard the law of God; I obey the law of Christ. 22 When I am with those who are oppressed, I share their oppression so that I might bring them to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone so that I might bring them to Christ. 23I do all this to spread the Good News, and in doing so I enjoy its blessings.  1 Corinthians 9:20-23

  • Train everyone to be a bridge

13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.  Colossians 1:13-14

  • Train everyone to be a witness
  • Utilize a bi-lingual worship/teaching format where we invite the lost to experience God and encourage un-churched people to re-connect
  • Develop healthy small groups for body building
  • Impact the community with targeted outreach ministries
  • Send out missionaries and teams to Taiwan and the world.

Our Structure

33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the other churches.  40 But be sure that everything is done properly and in order.  1 Corinthians 14:33, 40

The structure of the church should not be determined by culture, business practices, or even denominational traditions. The nature of the church should determine it’s structure!

1. The Church is a    FELLOWSHIP

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  Acts 2:42

A Top priority in fellowship is  HARMONY  and UNITY

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.  Ephesians 4:3

Therefore, any attitude that causes disunity is sin.  Consider these passages:

Colossians 3:15, I Corinthians 1:10, 2 Timothy 2:14, Psalm 17:14, II Corinthians 13:11, Philippians 1:27, 2:1-3, Colossians 2:2, Philippians 4:2, I Peter 3:8, I Corinthians 14:33, John 13:34-35, 2 Timothy 2:23, Romans 12:16-18, 15:5-6

Implication:  A good structure promotes unity and discourages CONFLICTS.

17In the following directives, I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good.  18In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it. I Corinthians 11:17-18

In too many churches, “voting” tends to DIVIDE PEOPLE.

Therefore, at New Life the church limits voting to:

  • Annual Budget and legal trustees
  • Purchase of land or buildings
  • Church staff additions
  • Changes in the church constitution and by-laws

2. The Church is a FAMILY.

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:10

So, we operate on the basis of RELATIONSHIPS not  RULES.

1Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father.  2Treat younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.

3. The Church is a BODY.

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.  I Corinthians 12:27

We are a body-not a business!  We are an organism-not an organization

Therefore, we function on the basis of SPIRITUAL GIFTS  not ELECTED OFFICES.

4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.  6We have different gifts according to the grace given us. Romans 12:4-6

In an organization, “maintenance” becomes the focus.  But in an organism, “ministry” is the focus.

At New Life, we have a simple structure so we can maximize MINISTRY and minimize MAINTENANCE.

11It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.  Ephesians 4:11-12

At New Life …

  • The people are the “MINISTERS”
  • The pastors are the “EQUIPPERS”

Anyone can start a ministry at New Life provided…

  • They are willing to lead it or secure leadership
  • The ministry is in philosophical and doctrinal harmony with the church
  • The ministry will not harm the church’s testimony
  • You do not use fund-raisers

4. The Church is a FLOCK.

2Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; 3not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.  4And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.  I Peter 5:2-4

Therefore, it is cared for and led by PASTORS

Jesus asked Simon Peter, ‘Do you really love me?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ said Peter.  ‘Then take care of my sheep.’  John 21:16

17 Paul sent to Ephesus for the elders of the church.  18 When they arrived he said to them…28 ‘Guard yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.  Be pastors of the church of God.’  Acts 20:17-18, 28
