OUR STATEMENTS
“I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.” I Corinthians 1:10
New Life will be a Biblically-based church in Kaohsiung trusting God to save the lost, restore the un-churched, and transform us into a healthy, growing family of believers that impacts Taiwan and the world
What values drive our ministry?
- We will always ask, “What does the Bible say?”
- Every believer is a minister.
- We will focus on the lost.
- We will restore the un-churched.
- We will utilize any and all methods to fulfill our vision—we will not be afraid to try something new.
- We will strive to develop healthy relationships with God and each other.
New Life’s mission is under-girded by two primary purposes that are based on two key Scriptures:
The Great Commandment: “Jesus said, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:36-40
The Great Commission: “Jesus said, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20
New Life’s mission is carried out in 4 ways:
- To “Love God with all your heart” is “WORSHIP”.
- To “Love your neighbor as yourself” is “MINISTRY”.
- To “Go…make disciples” is “EVANGELISM”.
- To “Teach them…all things” is “DISCIPLESHIP”.
WORSHIP– We exist to celebrate God’s presence
“Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” Matthew 4:10
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24
Expressions of Worship:
Praying (Psalm 95:6) 禱告(詩95:6) Hearing the Word (John 17:17) 聽道(約17:17)
Giving (I Corinthians 16:1-2) 司獻(林前16:1-2) Baptism (Romans 6:3-4) 洗禮(羅6:3-4)
Meditating (Habakkuk 2:20) 默想(哈2:20) Communion (I Corinthians 11:23-26) 聖餐(林前11:23-26)
In our Sunday afternoon services, we strive to help people experience:
Psalm 122:1 (詩122:1) Isaiah 40:31 (賽40:31) Ephesians 4:11-12 (弗4:11-12)
EVANGELISM– We exist to communicate God’s Word
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.” Romans 10:13-15
Why our church must never stop sharing the Good News:
- Because God loves people 因為神愛世人
“The Lord…is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but wants everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 (See also 2 Cor. 5:14, Luke 15:3-10, Matt. 10:13-15)
- Because God commands us to reach out 因為上帝要我門去傳福音
“Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full.” Luke 14:23
Unbiblical excuses for not reaching out:
- “God isn’t interested in numbers”.
- ”Our church wants quality not quantity”.
- ”Large churches are impersonal”.
We believe our church must grow larger and smaller at the same time.
DISCIPLESHIP– We exist to educate and train God’s people
“Let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity” Hebrews 6:1
“It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-12
MINISTRY– We exist to demonstrate God’s love
- Ministry to each other 彼此服事
“By this shall all men know that you are my disciples-that you have love for one another” John 13:35 (See also I John 3:16-17, Matt. 25:34-40, Romans 12:13)
We primarily minister to one another in SMALL GROUPS. Every member needs to be a part of one.
- Ministry to the community
14You are the light of the world — like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. 15 Don’t hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all.16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Matthew 5:14-16
At New Life….
Every believer is a minister.
Every task is important.
Every believer is gifted in some area.
Beliefs Statement
- In essential beliefs we have unity.
“There is one body and one Spirit-just as you were called to one hope when you were called-one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Ephesians 4:4-6
- In non-essential beliefs we have liberty.
“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.” Romans 14:1, 4, 12, 22
- In all our beliefs we show charity.
“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing” I Corinthians 13:2
THE ESSENTIALS WE BELIEVE
1. About God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; I Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14
2. About God the Father
God the Father expressed His love for the world by giving up His Son, Jesus Christ. He initiates a relationship with the world by drawing men to Himself. When men trust in Him, He calls them His children, provides for them, and refuses to allow them to be taken away from Him. He corrects His children and He cares for them with compassion.

3. About God the Son-Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and He created the world. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

4. About God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily.
II Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16, 17; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18

5. About the Bible
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.

6. About Human Beings
People are made in the image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good or evil, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.
Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1,2
7. About Salvation
Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1
8. About Eternal Security
Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. If you have been genuinely saved, you cannot “lose” it. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.
John 10:28, 29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10, 14; I Peter 3:5
9. About Eternity
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
John 3:16; John 2:25; John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; Matthew 1:8; Matthew 2:44, 46
10. About Symbols of Salvation
BAPTISM is an expression of obedience after one receives Christ as their Savior. It illustrates the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and also illustrates our new lives as Christians.
Acts 2:41; I Corinthians 15:3; Colossians 2:12; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 6:4
COMMUNION is a symbolic worship experience where believers in Jesus Christ remember the sacrificial death on the cross of Jesus Christ. The bread that we eat represents His broken body and the juice that we drink represents His shed blood.
