What About Life?
1. God created the life in the womb
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous — and how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. Psalm 139:13-16
2. The unborn are called babies. The same Greek word, brephos, is used in both verses.
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Luke 1:41
This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Luke 2:12
3. Life is protected for all people, born or unborn.
If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands and the court allows. But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life. Exodus 21:22-23
4. The unborn have a purpose even before birth.
22The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, `Why is this happening to me?’ So she went to inquire of the Lord. 23The Lord said to her, `Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated, one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger. Genesis 25:22-23
What About Choice?
19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit. Judges 21:25
